Clarence Town Public School Celebrates a Rich History

Clarence Town Public School

Clarence Town Public School opened in 1849 and has successfully met the challenge of educating our students for 175 years. With a mix of multi–generational families and families new to the area as well as a range of socio–economic backgrounds we pride ourselves on our inclusive culture. Our school is located on the traditional lands of the Worimi people, and our school has active connections to the Youyoong AECG.  Clarence Town Public School is supported through strong links within the educational community and are heavily engaged with the Dungog District Community of Schools, Hunter Schools Network and regional literacy and numeracy support.

Our school is well resourced for learning with access to integrated technology, a constantly growing Library, spacious hall, canteen and comfortable classrooms, which provide flexible learning spaces. We have generous space and inviting grounds where our students learn and play in a harmonious environment. These same resources are also utilised by a variety of community groups, through the NSW DoE Community Use of Facilities, including an on site OOSH, coordinated by Port Stephens Council, church events, local, state and federal elections, local group meetings and P&C events and activities.

Clarence Town Public School has a focus on positive learning environments, underpinned by high expectations, explicit teaching, effective feedback and evidence–based teaching and learning. Our school benefits from an active Parents and Community group who support school initiatives and fund-raising. We have a long history of sporting, cultural and academic success. We pride ourselves on offering opportunities for our students to excel, as we encourage the individual and cohesive strengths of our students.

Our school stands on our many strengths, dedicating ourselves to constant improvement while working collaboratively with our school community. Our school and community are guided by our values of Respect, Safety and Learning
